User Name Remember Me? In response to a growing number of requests, we have decided to release the REAPER 4 documentation ahead of the actual software itself, to help you to become familiar with the new features in advance of getting your hands on the final product. Near the front there is a summary table of major new features. In addition, there are countless other innovations and changes too numerous to list that weave their way throughout the document. For those people who like a hard copy, please consider downloading one from LULU. Without the modest income that I derive from sales it would simply not be possible for me to continue to put in the amount of time it takes to produce and maintain this document. With about 50 tutorials, it focusses more on how you can benefit from features such as mouse modifiers, preferences settings, custom toolbars, actions and menus, track templates, FX management, project building, routing, etc. It includes a stack of free resources, such as sample toolbars, macros, templates, etc. This can be downloadd as a PDF or printed and spiral bound copy. To help you assess it, the first 30 or so pages, including table contents, can be downloaded free from here: Nobody will be expected to pay for what previously was free. The extra book is there to go into greater depth for those who wish to do this. Finally … some people will undoubtedly wish to know whether this material may be available as an e-book, or in kindle format or some such. The short answer is that right now I am pretty exhausted. It's possible that one day the User Guide might well find its way to market in some additional format but that won't be the foreseeable future.

For example, a manual would list every single dialog box option, every preference setting and every action, with a brief explanation of each, but without really showing how the pieces fit together. I think I would die of boredom if I tried to write something like that. On the other hand, a User Guide primarily aims at helping the reader to understand the program and increasing their confidence and ability to use it.

With the quick pace of updates from the developers, it must be difficult to keep the documentation up to date. Whenever I struggle to understand something, I do what everybody else does or should do!

As a last resort, I can always take questions to the devs, but I try to avoid that as much as possible.

Setting up and getting started! Take your time and be patient.

Enjoy the learning curve and enjoy the journey. For me personally, top of the list is the ability to apply automation envelopes and parameter modulation to item and take FX rather than track FX only. After that comes VCA grouping. Big thanks to Geoff for taking the time to answer my questions and also for volunteering so much of his time to writing the guide, something that has helped so many users.

RT reaperblog: New Post — Interview with Geoffrey Francis: Grouping automations in Reaper 5. Good stuff. For each track. Just think about it. I think it easy to do — just import parts for selected samples on editor INTO selected reasamplomatic instances in chain so one click and each next rea get next note on keayboard and sample sliced by reaper dynamic split.
